Black Dragon Penance

"I have never seen a greater monster or miracle in the world than myself" - Michel Eyquem de Montaigne

Today I had the opportunity to actually speak to a close friend that has been agonizing over a big decision for a very long period of time. Too long, if you ask me. While I am certainly no man of great patience, there are many in his life who would also agree that his decision making process in this situation has taken far too long, and, as a result, has ended up hurting man

TrEnT Riding in December without a Jacket on.

Okay...I have never indorse anything before...NOT EVEN my damn bike...but I will endorse something today and I swear by it for any V-RODDERS.

Yesterday I took my bike out for a ride. Stereotypical nice warm sunny day in San Diego in December. I decided to ride light so decided not to wear my jacket.

I only wore the spiderman UnderArmor longsleeve training shirt and a t-shirt over it. I swear to you..this thing is AMAZING! It feels super comfortable it covers half of my neck,

LIQUID METAL The closest thing to flying!

I've been in love with motorcycles eversince my father took me out to buy my first bike. I was 16 years old and the bike was a Yamaha 250 enduro. I didn't even know how to ride a bike, but dad was a type of a person with an attitude as "do as you must". So good ol dad took me to pick up the bike and pretty much left me there to just get on and ride. Let's put it this way, it took me more than an hour to go 10 miles; laid the bike down twice, and found out that I can actually do wheelies!

Black Dragon The Perfect Blossom

Airless and wispy, pink snow floating down

The ageless cherry tree is freed from its crown

Each blossom flutters and dances as though blessed

Kissing the earth with its loving caress

Leaving the lightest and most indelible mark

In a world both seen as lush and stark

As soon as each lands, it's whisked away

By Fate, each blossom is expected to stay

Fleeting and perfect in this day's affair

To pass on forgotten without worr

Black Dragon My P226

"Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'." - Winston Churchill, House of Commons, June 18, 1940

It was in that moment today when I looked down at my Sig Sauer P226 while I was practicing at the range that I realized how far I have come in not only my ability to accurately shoot virtually any handgun but also, more impo

Black Dragon PT

"We must show ourselves equally capable of meeting a sudden, violent shock or - what is perhaps a harder test . a prolonged vigil. But be the ordeal sharp or long, or both, we shall seek no terms, we shall tolerate no parley; we may show mercy - we shall ask for none." - Winston Churchill, London Broadcast, July 14, 1940

There I was, in sweltering, stifling, 100+ degree heat on one of many cauldron hot summer days, fighting the pain that was shooting up my shins and stabbing me

Black Dragon The Noble Profession

“It is by those who have suffered that the world has been advanced.” – Leo Tolstoy

As I have just finished the book, Shooter, by USMC Gunnery Sergeant Jack Coughlin, an autobiography about one of the U.S. Marine Corps’ top ranked snipers, I am reminded, once again about the age old adage: “Freedom is not free.” Throughout our nation’s history, countless

Black Dragon An Intimate Conversation

"No saint, no hero, no discoverer, no prophet, no leader ever did his work cheaply and easily, comfortably and painlessly, and no people was ever great which did not pass through the valley of the shadow of death on its way to greatness." - Walter Lippman

Recently, I had an AIM conversation with a very close friend of mine regarding the risks that he percieves that I so freely take in life. The specific example he used was my love for riding. Motorcycles are accidents waiting t

Black Dragon Mecca

"What I want is, not to possess religion but to have a religion that shall possess me." - Charles Kingsley

It's 2:01 AM Sunday night and I am struggling with a mild bout of insomnia. Having had a relatively productive weekend, my mind is still having trouble slowing down and accepting the fact that I am no longer running around performing errands and mundane chores. Not that my entire weekend was involved in the monotonous and boring tasks of laundry and grocery shopping. Quite

Black Dragon A Nice Evening

"A horse that is hitched with others to a wagon is not free to walk in front of the wagon; and if it will not draw, the wagon will strike its legs, and it will go whither the wagon goes, and will pull it involuntarily. But, in spite of this limited freedom, it is free itself to pull the wagon, or be dragged along by it. The same is true of man." - Leo Tolstoy

Well, I have to say, its nice once in a while to just have a night off where my evening just unexpectedly clears up from

Black Dragon The Facts and Fiction of Martial Arts

"Happiness is not the end of life; character is." - Henry Ward Beecher

We sit transfixed, as if mesmerized in a trance by the seductively alluring, cobra-quick movements of Bruce Lee's hands and feet as he makes mincemeat out of his many varied attackers on screen. His attackers go flying while Lee remains unscathed, throwing men around like a game of human dodgeball. He emerges victorious, with barely a scratch and wrecks mayhem to all who stand in his path. The truth behind t

Black Dragon I Found Myself in San Francisco

"Life is like a library owned by an author. In it are a few books which he wrote himself, but most of them were written for him." - Harry Emerson Fosdick.

Tonight I had the pleasure of taking a ride on my 900 through several places in the Bay Area. At about 7 PM, after I had just gotten back home from dinner, I got this sudden sense of wanderlust. This feeling gnawed at my insides and begged not only to be satisfied but also to be satisfied on in the saddle of a motorcycle. The

Black Dragon Betting Your Life on a Pair of Screamin' Eagles

"You must recognize as brothers and sisters all who live; and free to will, free to act, free to enjoy, you shall know the worth of existence." - Richard Wagner

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to get finally get back on my HOG and take her for a ride with one of my good friends, John Jimenez. John and I haven't actually been on a ride together in some time. We had fallen out of touch for a while and when we finally did come back into contact with each other, he was suffering f

Black Dragon The Warrior's Playbook

"The nation that separates its warriors from its scholars will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools." - Anonymous

Well, its been about a year since my friends and I picked up paintball as one of our collective hobbies. Since then, we have climbed up the steep learning curve from cannon fodder newb to deadly battlefield tacticians. Mind you, we are far from invincible, but nowadays, we represent a dominant presence on the field of battle, whereas befo
